Carl (Carleton) Ruthling went to high school in Northern Virginia. He graduated and then applied to and was accepted at the University of Virginia. The school that accepted him was the engineering school. Once there he then chose Aerospace engineering and was accepted into that degreed program.

Carleton Ruthling completed the degree in four years. While at the University of Virginia he joined a fraternity and participated in a number of sports. The sports included lacrosse and rugby. earned a degree from University of Virginia (B.S. 80’s) in Charlottesville Virginia. This was the first focused introduction to engineering.

Georgia Institute
of Technology

Wanting to further pursue engineering he then applied and was accepted into the Georgia Institute of Technology (M.S. 80’s) in Atlanta Georgia also referred to as Georgia Tech in Atlanta Georgia. The department that he applied to and was accepted by was the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering department.

Carleton Ruthling then opted to do a combined research and thesis Masters and graduated two years thereafter. While at Georgia Tech Carl joined the traveling rugby team and they played different schools of that ACC league and other regional schools. Those schools included North Carolina State University, University of Georgia, Emory University, University of South Florida, and others. This education and technology was important to give a background for tesla walls and tesla wall systems done later.
