WORK TIMELINE

Carl Ruthling began working in the catering business first independently preparing foods for social occasions and then later in a European wine and cheese shop located in Northern Virginia. Carl was responsible at the shop for cash register, for getting the meats and cheeses requested at the deli counter, for cleaning the shop, for preparing the food for the catering orders.

He did that work for 4 years while in junior high school and high school. He later branched into construction and this construction experience helped later in tesla wall systems and tesla walls.

Summer jobs were varied but mostly focused on construction of new homes in the Mclean and Great Falls Virginia area. One summer was as a laborer on a job site. Another summer was as a painter for new homes. The following summer he partnered with a friend and did renovations of stores in the Boston and New York areas.

The first significant full time job was at TRW in Redondo Beach. Carl was offered that job and accepted that job after he graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Altanta Georgia. The work at TRW was in the military industrial complex. Nearly all work required several security clearances.

That was the time of Ronald Reagan’s star wars programs and the goal was to develop and manufacture satellite systems and the supporting infrastructure including the rockets to detect the threat that was incoming and then to proactively disable or neutralize that threat. TRW was one of the gems of the United States military industrial assests and they were awarded the most challenging black programs from a number of agencies.

Carl then in the 1990’s worked for a company called @Home Network. This was a pioneering company that transformed the United States from a slow internet connection service controlled by the then monopoly that AOL had on the US to the current high speed broadband service that the US and its citizens enjoy today.
